Project Background:
As the first import emergency supplies bonded warehouse in the Central Plains region, this key construction project in Kaifeng is tasked with enhancing regional emergency supply reserves, safeguarding public health security, and meeting essential public needs. The project spans a total area of 61,038.53 square meters, with a total building area of 48,807.95 square meters. It comprises three warehouses, vehicle passages, and ramps, representing a total investment of approximately 225 million RMB and a construction period of 24 months. Upon completion, the facility will efficiently stock imported emergency supplies such as disaster relief medicines and medical equipment, providing robust support for responding to public health emergencies and ensuring the basic needs of affected communities.
To meet the specific functional requirements of the bonded warehouse—balancing daylighting efficiency, emergency smoke exhaust safety, waterproofing and moisture resistance, and structural stability—Mcwell tailored the Henan Arch-Type Daylighting Skylight solution. This combines Arch-Type Electric Daylighting and Smoke Exhaust Skylights (top-hinged opening type) with Arch-Type Fixed Daylighting Skylights, precisely aligning with the building’s characteristics and operational needs.
The top-hinged Arch-Type Electric Daylighting and Smoke Exhaust Skylight offers strong structural stability, effectively resisting impacts from harsh weather such as strong winds, rain, and snow common in Henan. The skylight opens upward at an angle of ≥80° and can be rapidly activated via electric control in emergencies, ensuring quick response and efficient smoke exhaust to protect both personnel and supplies.
During daily use, the skylight provides ample natural light, reducing reliance on artificial lighting and lowering energy consumption. Integrated with Mcwell’s proprietary structural waterproofing technology—which eliminates dependence on traditional sealants—the design prevents leakage risks at the source, maintaining a dry storage environment ideal for emergency medicines and medical equipment. Additionally, the skylight supports fire control integration, allowing direct connection to the project’s fire safety system for automatic emergency activation without manual intervention, significantly improving response efficiency.
To address daylighting needs across the warehouse’s extensive storage areas, Mcwell supplemented the design with Arch-Type Fixed Daylighting Skylights. The arched structure effectively disperses wind and snow loads while utilizing natural drainage principles to allow rainwater and snow to slide off quickly, preventing accumulation and reducing maintenance costs while extending service life. These skylights also deliver even, soft and natural illumination, enhancing indoor working conditions and further cutting lighting energy consumption.
